DebatingRoom ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered debate coaching app designed for students in grades 4–8 (ages approximately 9–14). We take the privacy of children and families seriously.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what rights parents and guardians have regarding their children's data.
Parent Consent Required. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we require verifiable parental consent before any child under 13 can use DebatingRoom. Children access the app only through accounts created and managed by a parent or guardian.

We use information only for the purposes described above. We never use children's debate content for advertising or sell it to third parties.

We select only providers that offer appropriate data protection commitments. Debate content sent to OpenAI is used solely to generate in-session feedback and is not used to train OpenAI's models under our API agreement.
DebatingRoom is designed for use under direct parental oversight. Children cannot create their own accounts — all child accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian who has agreed to this Privacy Policy.
In compliance with COPPA (15 U.S.C. § 6501 et seq.):

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Replit and backed by a managed PostgreSQL database. We apply industry-standard security practices including:

The app may request permission to send push notifications to the parent's device. These notifications are used solely to inform parents about their child's debate activity and app updates. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email (to the parent account's email address) and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
